Department Information
Animal Control is a service offered to Lamar County residents only. We can accept cats and dogs from residents with a physical address of unincorporated Lamar County and Milner. Residents within Barnesville City Limits need to contact City of Barnesville Animal Control at 770-358-0181.
Animal calls are sent to the animal control officer as the work order is taken. The animal control officer will call to set up a time to pick up the cat(s) or dog(s). Someone must be home at the time of pickup to sign forms.
We are sorry that we do not have the equipment or ability to help residents with other animal problems such as skunks, fox, armadillos, coyote, horses, etc. Please contact the Department of Natural Resources for help with such animals. Lamar County Animal Control is for cats and dogs only.
To schedule a pick-up, you may contact the Lamar County Board of Commissioners.
If your pet is picked up by Lamar County Animal Control, you must call Barnesville City Hall at 770-358-0181 to pay the fine and schedule a time to pick up your pet from the shelter. Stray cats and dogs at the shelter are available for adoption. Please call Barnesville City Hall for information on adopting a pet from the shelter.
