Ground Broken for Animal Shelter
A large crowd was on hand Thursday morning for groundbreaking ceremonies at the site of the Lamar County Animal Shelter. The shelter will be built on Roberta Drive between the rodeo arena and the wetlands trail.
At the ceremony, it was announced the shelter will be run by the sheriff’s office and that donor funds for the project have topped $188,000.
The county has earmarked $250,000 in SPLOST funds for the project.
